Denise Duncan - NO Sole - New Hoof Growth - Improved Joint Health

John Dowdy:

Hello, and welcome to this week's Equinety Podcast. We're swinging up into Virginia, we've got Denise Duncan on the call this week. Denise, welcome to the Equinety Podcast.

Denise Duncan:

Thank you so much for having me, I'm so excited to be here. I can't wait to tell everybody what this product's done for my horse.

John Dowdy:

Yeah. And I'll tell you, it's an exciting one. I came across one of your comments, I believe on one of our Facebook ads. Either that, or you sent me in some before and after x-rays of this hoof. I was just like, "Holy cow."

John Dowdy:

In short, so everybody knows what they're going to be listening to, this horse literally lost the sole altogether. When you look at the x-ray, which we'll post in the transcript of this podcast, but it almost looks like the hoof is so soft it's stepping on a ball or something, it's concaved significantly. I'm like, "Holy smokes." And then, six months later, you virtually have a new hoof. And then, also we're going to talk about what the vet said about the joints as well.

John Dowdy:

Let's get into talking about Matthew. How old is Matthew? Give us some history on Matthew. When did you get him, how long have you had him? Let's start there.

Denise Duncan:

Matthew is 22 this year, and I've had him seven years. He was in perfect health, until he had this episode with his hoof sloughing off. He is a show horse. I've never shown horses before, but when I bought him, we started showing right away. He is just amazing at showing, he's just the best thing.

John Dowdy:

Now, what discipline are you showing?

Denise Duncan:

I show hunter under saddle. So we do showmanship, we do equitation, and we do ... Oh my gosh, I forgot. I'm so excited to just be talking about Matthew. I should be ready with these questions.

John Dowdy:

That's right. When you're on the back of the horse, who cares what you're doing, really?

Denise Duncan:

That's right.

John Dowdy:

You bought the horse, he's perfect, and then all of a sudden ... How many years had gone by, before something started happening here?

Denise Duncan:

Six years went by, and he was in perfect health, never had a lame day since I've owned him. I'm pretty sure, with his previous owners, never had a lame day. He's just healthy as a horse.

John Dowdy:

Yeah, yeah. So, was it your farrier that called you up one day? Or, what specifically happened and what was going on?

Denise Duncan:

I went out to the barn to ride, and I went to pull him out of the stall and he couldn't step. It happened to be our farrier was in the barn that day. I pulled him over, and he immediately pulled his back shoes off and said, "Something's wrong, let's get your trainer over." We ran, got her, we pulled his blankets off. Every muscle on his body was quivering in pain, he couldn't even take one step. He was trying so hard, and he just physically couldn't. She immediately gave him a shot of [ethanamine 00:03:08] to calm his muscles down. We got the vet out as fast as we could.

John Dowdy:

Wow. That had to be heartbreaking.

Denise Duncan:

It was heartbreaking. I've never seen Matthew in any kind of pain before, like that. I've never seen any human, or any horse, anything. It was devastating.

Denise Duncan:

The vet came out, and she immediately saw that the hoof was concave. We pulled x-rays, and you could see the coffin bone was much closer to the sole than ... It was obvious why he couldn't walk. We did every blood test known to man, perfect health. There was no ETM, there was nothing wrong blood-wise, no lime, no anything. Nothing leading up to why the hoof that just completely went concave and disappeared. We assumed it was environmental.

Denise Duncan:

I had gotten on Facebook, looking for anything that could help him, in addition to his gabapentin and the drugs the vets were offering. I saw this ad for Equinety, I started reading everybody's reviews. I was like, "Wow, this is too good to be true. But, it's got to be worth the money, you have to try it." It's inexpensive enough that spending that money, trying it.

Denise Duncan:

The first month, he was still in a lot of pain. The second month, he would walk a few steps. Each month that the hoof was growing, which we had no idea ... I wanted to pull x-rays, but my trainer kept requesting, "Let's just wait, let's just wait. We'll wait, we'll see the progress." After four months, I couldn't wait anymore so we got the vet back out. She took the x-rays, and everyone was floored. We sent them to everyone, because my trainer was there, the two vets were there, his farrier. Matthew, everyone knows him at the barn, everybody was there when he was born and they've all watched him progress and heal. It's a fascinating story, everyone just loves to hear it, and they love to see him showing. It's just amazing how well this product has worked for him.

John Dowdy:

Yeah. So he was born on the farm, then?

Denise Duncan:

Yeah, he was born on that farm. His sisters, his brothers, he's uncle to a bunch of horses there. She has a lot of his family horses around.

John Dowdy:

Wow. That had to be pretty devastating, too, for everyone else that has known this horse for all the years. And all of a sudden, here we are.

John Dowdy:

Now, prior to finding the Equinety product, what was the prognosis? Were you looking at maybe having to put him down, was it that severe? What was going on there?

Denise Duncan:

After month two, when he still couldn't really take a step, we had bought some boots and put on him, and we'd put him out to see if he could just ... Horses I think need to be outside, especially him. Even though he's a show horse, he's put out in the field. We had put him out, and he couldn't walk back in. I spoke with my trainer and said, "If we're going to go down this path, where this magnificent creature can't take a step, my heart can't watch that happen." I know it was hard on her heart, because she bred him and was there when he was born. We talked about it and she said, "Let's give it some more time, and keep using the products we're using. Just keep doing what we're doing, don't give up on him."

Denise Duncan:

He is just such a fighter, you could just tell. He wanted to make this work, he wanted to walk again.

John Dowdy:

So within two months of using the Equinety Horse XL, you started seeing some good progress. Then, what transpired over the next few months?

Denise Duncan:

The next couple months went, and we still continued using the product, and the hoof was secretly growing, that we didn't know about. It got to the point where he could finally come out of the stall, he could walk. We weren't allowed to ride, he was allowed to be turned out in this little pen, that was just flat, no hills, no mud, no anything. He stayed in there for about two months, and the hoof was just going.

Denise Duncan:

Then after the month four, maybe month five, the vet said, "You guys can consider getting on him and walking." He did a little odd step, he was trying to get used to a human on him again, it's been a while. We did it, just sparingly. As he progressed getting better, we decided to pull x-rays, just to see what was going on with the hoof, and see if it was hardening, and see if it was getting thicker. When we pulled the x-rays and they were so clear the vet said, "You can ride him again." After another month of that, she said, "You can show him again." It was just remarkable.

John Dowdy:

What were your farrier's comments on this hoof?

Denise Duncan:

Well, he's been Matthew's farrier for a couple years, and he said since he's been shoeing Matthew ... He shoed him before he was my farrier, he comes around the barn and does a lot for the trainer there. He said Matthew's always had terrible feet, and not hard feet, just soft. He could see why that problem occurred, to begin with. Now, he says it's a complete change, it's a complete transformation. They've hardened up, they're thick. He's not the problem horse that he hates shoeing, not anymore.

John Dowdy:

Yeah. Yeah, that's fascinating.

John Dowdy:

For those tuning in, maybe this is the first time you're hearing about the product, or maybe you're doing research just like Denise was doing, and you're just trying to find anything to help your horse, what's really interesting with this Horse XL, at the time of this recording we've been on the market now seven years with this, and interestingly enough it doesn't fit into any specific category. In other words, it's not a hoof supplement per se, and it's not a gut supplement, or a joint supplement, or a calmer, or a muscle builder, or a shiny coat, or any of these things.

John Dowdy:

What it is, it's pure 100% amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein. There's no fillers, no sugars, there's no starches, and there's no loading dose. Serving size is 5.2 grams, which is about a teaspoon, and that is regardless for the size of the horse. Because what the product is actually doing is it targets the pituitary gland, which is the gland in the body that releases the hormones. These hormones are specific to helping the body repair. So when we can give the body what it needs to release its own hormones, then the body's deciding where to send those hormones for the repair.

John Dowdy:

In this case, it was the hoof and the sole. We'll get into the joints actually, as well, and what the vet had to say about the joints after the x-ray. But, when you go on our website, teamequinety.com, we have just over 100 podcasts now, of stories just like Denise, that are sharing their stories, and the trials and tribulations they were dealing with, and how they came across the product.

John Dowdy:

Now, I will say this. The Equinety products are not a miracle supplement, I'll put that out there. They do, however, do some miraculous things, I'll say that. There is no negative side effects with any medications, supplements that you're using. As a matter of fact, we recommend not changing anything you're doing and just add this product to what you're using. And then typically, over the next couple weeks to 30 days, most people can see a significant enough difference where then you can decide to reduce and or stop using other things.

John Dowdy:

Denise, in your case, you've chosen not to change anything you're giving. You've just added this to it, and everything's going just fine.

Denise Duncan:

Yeah. I would consider it, for me, a miracle product. What it's done for me and Matthew, I've recommended it to everyone at the barn. You're right, everyone should use it for different things. Because in addition to Matthew's x-rays of his feet, they x-rayed his legs, they x-rayed all of his stifle area, everything. The vet was so impressed with this 22 year old's x-rays. She said they have been far superior to some of the two and four year olds' that she's been seeing, pulling x-rays for people purchasing.

Denise Duncan:

It can be helping the joints in ways that you don't even know.

John Dowdy:

Yeah. You know what's interesting, too, being on the market now for, like I say, going on seven years, we have a lot of people in the performance industry, where they would typically have to inject on a regular basis. When they started using this product, they don't have to inject as often, and sometimes not at all. It all depends on the severity of what's going on.

John Dowdy:

Almost a year ago, we released a secondary product called Equinety Ultimate OEC, which works in combination with the amino acids. So the amino acids are giving the body what it needs to repair the cells, and the Ultimate OEC gives those repaired cells some nutrition. But, it also acts as a really powerful antioxidant, which helps reduce inflammation. It's based on a flaxseed based Omega-3 oil with 1000 IUs of natural vitamin E and colloidal silver all in one. It comes in a half gallon, and there's no fillers in that as well. But, it's one of those products that we believe the two products just help keep everything streamlined, and is a good solid supplemental foundation.

John Dowdy:

As everyone's hearing in this case, just the Equinety Horse XL, and the proof is in the pudding, we'll say. How about that?

Denise Duncan:

Well, I'm excited to use the second product, because I actually had just sent Matthew ... He splices his sides a lot, he's really dry. I didn't know that you had that second product, until recently. I will be definitely purchasing that, because I had just put him on one but I didn't even know you guys had that. I'm real excited to try that one as well.

John Dowdy:

Yeah, we're pretty excited about it. Of course, we launched it right when COVID hit, so that was perfect timing.

Denise Duncan:

Yeah, everything is.

John Dowdy:

Yeah, isn't it, in this day and age. But, that's awesome.

John Dowdy:

Well Denise, if there's anybody tuning into the podcast, and maybe they're doing their research and they're like, "Yeah, I don't know. I'm still on the fence. Should I buy it, should I not? Should I try it?" What would you have to say to them, to get them to just give it a try? What would they have to lose?

Denise Duncan:

They can't lose anything. If it is affecting their pituitary gland, who knows what this is also evolving in their body? Who knows if it's fixing their joints, who knows if it's healing their hoofs? Matthew's hoofs were so clean, all of the dry, flaky area turned out just perfect. It looks like a baby hoof, it's so amazing. It's [inaudible 00:14:48] product. Keep your products, if you want, add this to it. I know, in two months, you'll see complete changes. It would be amazing if everyone could pull x-rays before and after a month or two, I know everybody can't. But, I'm thrilled with the product, you just have to try it.

Denise Duncan:

I wish I could buy everybody free samples, because it will change everything about your horse. It will just make them feel comfortable, and better. I've actually noticed Matthew, he's not as spooky on it. I don't know how, he just seems to be more relaxed. He just seems to feel better. Even if you're not looking for a hoof supplement, and you're just looking for an extra something, it's worth trying.

John Dowdy:

That is a great point, because we do have a lot of people in the performance horse world, and maybe the hooves are perfect and they don't need that. But, I would say the best description of what this product is doing ... By the way, it is targeting the pituitary, but even if your horse has Cushings, it's not going to affect it in a negative way. We have a lot of people that say probably the best way to describe this product is it's helping to balance the horse from the inside out, hormonally.

Denise Duncan:

Perfect.

John Dowdy:

When it comes to the performance horses, I would say the benefits there are they are calmer. They're still focused, and they recover faster, have more stamina. But, they're just calmer in their skin. Although they're calmer, it's not like giving them a sedative or anything, it's just they feel good. It's the soft tissue repair in there.

John Dowdy:

When they're really competing hard, which most people haven't in the last year, but when they would typically have to give their horse a two or three day break, now it seems to be a one day break, and the horses are just always ready to go from a performance horse standpoint. And then, you get all the other benefits as well.

Denise Duncan:

Right.

John Dowdy:

Awesome. Well Denise Duncan out of Virginia, I really appreciate you taking the time to share this story. I know there's a lot of people that are going to get some great benefit out of hearing this one, so thank you so much for taking the time.

Denise Duncan:

Thank you so much for having me.

John Dowdy:

You bet. Bye, bye.

Denise Duncan:

Bye, bye.
