Emily Florence - Thin Soles – Osslets – Hard Keeper & an Easy Keeper

John Dowdy:

Hello and welcome to this week's Equinety Podcast. We're swinging up into South Carolina. We've got Emily Florence on the call this week. Emily, welcome to The Equinety Podcast.

Emily Florence:

Thank you. I'm very excited to be here.

John Dowdy:

Well, it's always a pleasure to have our customers on sharing their personal Equinety stories. Now you first learned about our product back in 2018, we're going to be talking about two different horses. One, the first horse back in 2018, you were just using the product as a preventative, although you did notice some changes in there and we can talk about that. And then the second horse was an off-the-track thoroughbred with several different issues, and so we'll talk about how just this one product worked so well in both of these horses. So let's talk about your first horse back in 2018, how you came across the product and let's start there.

Emily Florence:

Okay. Well, at the time y'all were sponsors, my NBHA division 04, and everyone got a sample and I got it. I figured, well I have it, I'll give it a try. And it made major improvements in my horse at the time, and he had no existing issues. Only thing that I was a little bit worried about is he had a hard time keeping the topline, and because he was such an easy keeper, it was hard to add extra things with fillers in it and make him too heavy. And that helped a lot with filling his topline in, and his joints had more flexibility, and his muscle looked better, and his coat was shinier, and he ran harder. It helped to calm him down a bit.

John Dowdy:

Yeah, I'd say that's one of the things that we find a lot with horses that seem to be anxious, nervous, a little on the hotter side, just by giving them the Equinety Horse XL tends to calm them down just a bit. Now we'll get into exactly what this product is and how it works specifically, but what's really interesting is it doesn't fit into a specific supplement category. In other words, it's not a "calmer" or hoof supplement or joint supplement. It's very unique in how it works. And we'll get a little bit more details of both of these horses, and then I'll explain exactly how the product works and why it works so well in all of these different situations. So what are some of the things that... Well you noticed the shinier coat and blooming, and a little faster recovery with this particular horse because again, you weren't using it for any specific issues. It was just a performance horse and you were kind of a preventative type thing.

Emily Florence:

Yes, sir. Like I said, I wasn't using it for a specific issue, but I just wanted something good for maintenance and I got it to try, and so I figured I'd give it a try. And since then, I'm in love with it. I use it on all of my performance horses. My mom's trail horse gets it. It's something that I really like, and it makes my supplement program cheaper overall because rather than having to give him eight different things, it's all in one bottle.

John Dowdy:

Yeah, that's right. So let's skip ahead to 2019, you adopted a off-the-track thoroughbred. You call him Fury for short, but just tell us about this horse. The first time you saw it, what were your initial thoughts? And let's take it from there.

Emily Florence:

First time I saw him, he looked pretty good. His ankle was a little bit puffy, but he's an off-track thoroughbred, he had 32 starts, had a long career on the track. So it's expected to have a few issues here and there. And he actually wasn't a horse that... I went to look at two, and then she showed me the third one and he was actually one I liked the least. I got on him. I decided that I really liked him and got along super well. We brought him home and pulled his shoes because I think everyone should be barefoot if they can. So we pulled his shoes and next day he was lame. Turns out his soles were so thin he was at risk for founder.

John Dowdy:

Wow. Yeah, that's not good.

Emily Florence:

No, not good at all. So we got him. Go ahead.

John Dowdy:

Yeah, when you did this was your first thought, or what was your first thoughts then? It was like, "Oh my gosh, I need the best farrier on the planet. Do you want me to look at supplements?" What was going through your mind then?

Emily Florence:

Oh, the first thing I thought is need to get that fixed. So I pulled him out of his work because we had him for about two weeks before we got his shoes pulled. And he was just in light work, getting used to not being a race horse. And so we got him, we pulled his shoes, and he ended up lame. So I was like, really? Of course I was very worried. Our farrier is amazing. So he recommended a few topical things to put on them, and either he wouldn't recommend nailing shoes back on, and he said the [inaudible 00:05:15] was a little bit thin too, not horribly, but if he didn't have to put a shoe on it'd be better.

Emily Florence:

So we got him some easy boot type things to protect the feet while he was turned out. Started giving him topical things and Equinety, because again, I had already had previous experience with it and I knew that it worked. So I started giving him two scoops with his morning feed, and also making sure I cut out all the starches and sugars that I could, because we all know that starches and sugars aren't good for [inaudible 00:05:48] feet or attitude.

John Dowdy:

Right. He also is a hard keeper, right?

Emily Florence:

Very hard keeper. He eats a lot of feed plus the Equinety.

John Dowdy:

Yeah. Now how long was it? Do you recall how long from the time you started giving the Equinety product to where you started noticing a thickening in the sole depth?

Emily Florence:

He had an improvement his next trim rotation. So when he got his shoes pulled and I noticed that his feet were a little thin, but I didn't think they were that thin before we pulled them. So I got him beginning of December. It was probably about mid of December whenever he got his shoes pulled, and by the end I started seeing a little bit of difference. He was sound enough to go on a walk ride with his boots on. And then by February he was fully sound.

John Dowdy:

Oh that's pretty quick.

Emily Florence:

Yes, sir. He did amazing, and now he had the Equinety and topical. Between those two, he made an amazing recovery and we all know that thoroughbreds are known for having bad feet. And you'd never think that with him now. He's got rock hard balls and good thick soles.

John Dowdy:

Yep. An all around healthier, faster, stronger growing hoof then?

Emily Florence:

Yes sir.

John Dowdy:

Now he was also dealing with osselets, which I believe this is the first time we've really talked about that on the podcast with anybody. So tell us exactly, for those tuning in and may have never heard of that, what exactly is osselets and how does it affect the horse? Tell us all about that.

Emily Florence:

It's a little bit more like ringbone than arthritis. So if you look at his x-rays, the inside of his joint is actually very healthy. Good cartilage, no arthritis there. But if you look on the outside, it's actually calcified on the outside of his joint, which can hold a lot of fluid and restrict his movement if he's not moving and make him have ugly ankles. He had never been lame on them, but I like to make sure that he's... He's only nine. So I didn't want him to be 15 and have to retire because his joints hurt. Also, he started getting Equinety for his feet, but that was also a plus that helped with that and had first set of x-rays and they were not horrible, but you could tell that they were definitely there and he had reduced swelling with them. He had another set of x-rays and they had actually repaired some. He has less calcification on the outside.

John Dowdy:

Yeah that's pretty incredible.

Emily Florence:

I didn't believe it when I saw it. I said, "You had to have sent me wrong x-rays because no way."

John Dowdy:

Yes. And when we were talking before you... What is the phrase that you call Equinety?

Emily Florence:

I call it wonder powder.

John Dowdy:

Wonder powder, yes. A lot of people call it magic powder. Now, for those of you who are tuning in, maybe you've just come across this product. You've heard about it. The Equinety Horse XL. What this product is, and I mentioned before it doesn't fit into a specific supplement category. In other words, it's not "a hoof supplement" or joint supplement or calmer or muscle builder or anything like that. What it is it's specifically designed... It's a hundred percent pure amino acids to give the body what it needs to release its own repairing hormones, and this comes from the pituitary gland. And once this happens, the body is able to send its own hormones to its own problem areas.

John Dowdy:

And that's why it helps in so many ways. And the best way to think about it is it's customizing to each horse. So in this example, we were talking about two specific horses. The first horse you had didn't have any issues. It was just a performance horse. You were using it for preventative type things, but you did notice faster recovery, better stamina, the coat overall had bloomed. In the second horse, Fury the off-the-track thoroughbred, dealing with thin soles is probably one of the most common things when people are looking to help thicken the sole depth, we're getting more and more farriers that are noticing how quickly this happens in the horse. I tell people all the time, you could have the world's best farrier standing in front of your horse, but if there's not much to work with, what is anyone supposed to do?

John Dowdy:

And so with the Equinety Horse XL, it's really going to help thicken those soles and just make for an all around healthier, stronger, faster growing hoof, which then gives the farrier more to work with in a shorter amount of time. And then going into the osselets, the L-arginine that's in the product, what it specifically does is opens the veins, which allows for more blood flow, which is more oxygen, and that's going to help the repairing process. So it also helps with inflammation and things like that. And we have a secondary product called Equinety Ultimate OEC, which we brought on the market about a year and a half ago. And what that product is, it's a flaxseed based omega-3. It's got a thousand IUs of natural cold pressed vitamin E and colloidal silver all in one. The reason why we brought that product out is to work in combination with the Horse XL to give those repaired cells some nutrition.

John Dowdy:

But secondly, it's a really powerful antioxidant which helps reduce inflammation. So one of the things I love talking about in these podcasts, so many of them are primarily just the Equinety Horse XL and people see all these benefits, and a lot of times when they'll add the Ultimate OEC, it even gets better, which boggles my mind a lot of times. But you're giving the horse what they really need to help repair themselves and keep everything balanced on the inside.

John Dowdy:

So, when you call this a wonder powder, or people call it a magic powder and things like that. Miracle supplement. I tell people it's not a miracle supplement, but it sure does some miraculous things. And that's one of the reasons why we started the podcast because there were so many stories coming in, and a lot of times people had tried everything that they knew to try, and they just were at the end of the rope, and then they tried the Equinety Horse XL and that got their horse back to where they wanted it to be in a lot faster time. So we're blessed for sure in so many ways in how this helps with these horses. So now with your off-the-track thoroughbred, you're now running 1D times with this horse in the barrel racing world.

Emily Florence:

Yes, sir. He's doing great.

John Dowdy:

That's awesome. Was there anything else, anybody that might be tuning into this podcast listening to this and they still might be on the fence. Is there anything that you might want to say to them to get them to try the product?

Emily Florence:

You will not believe it. It does anything and everything. Yes, you may look at the price and think it's expensive, but [inaudible 00:13:28] bottle. Rather than getting 10, 15 other supplements, you can get it all in the one that has no fillers, no extra sugar, it's all natural. That's another thing I'm big about. I want to keep my horses. I don't want to be feeding them chemicals. And certainly if you have a hot horse, a horse with feed issues or bed issues, you don't want to be giving them extra sugar.

John Dowdy:

Yeah. That's a great thing with the Horse XL. What's on the label is exactly what's in it. A hundred percent pure amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein. And for those of you tuning in that are thinking about using it and are wondering, well, do I stop giving some of these other supplements when I start to add the Equinety Horse XL? Or is there any negative things that could happen by giving them the Horse XL? The answer to all that is no. As a matter of fact, we recommend not changing anything you're giving your horse and just add the Equinety Horse XL to it. That way you're only changing one element. And then over the next couple weeks to 30 days, you can decide whether to reduce or stop using other things. But a serving size is only 5.2 grams, which is about a teaspoon.

John Dowdy:

So it's not very much at all. And even the picky horses tend to lick it right up. So it's quite amazing in that aspect. Then it begins working right away. So within hours it's a hundred percent absorbed and goes right to work. The vast majority of people notice changes in 30 days or less. And a lot of people notice changes within a couple days. Horses that have stress, anxiety, are a bit spooky, we've seen complete demeanor changes within a couple days. For the working performance horse, within a week to two weeks, they just feel better under saddle. They're more comfortable, less stressed, they're focused, and then you get into the 30 day mark, softer shinier coat. They're filling out that topline and hip area. We've even had reports of people starting to notice a little thicker sole depth. Just a little firmer pressure down there, firmer feel. So you will not be sorry, but I think Emily already told you that for you tuning in. But all right, Emily, was there anything else you'd like to add before we sign off?

Emily Florence:

Just try it. Don't take my word for it, give it a try for yourself.

John Dowdy:

Yeah, absolutely. Well, Emily Florence out of South Carolina. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your stories here on The Equinety Podcast.

Emily Florence:

Thank you for having me.

John Dowdy:

All right. Thank you. Bye-bye.

Emily Florence:

Bye.
